Baseball Recap: Richland Takes a Loss

Richland extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 16-1 to the Advance Hornets. The Rebels were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Advance, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Advance's part, Kadon Rodgers and Jameson Hamlin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Rodgers tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hamlin tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Advance is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-8 otherwise. At the plate, Rodgers got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI, while Hamlin got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Rodgers has posted since April 1st.

In other batting news, Advance got a massive performance out of Lelind Kennedy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave Kennedy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Curtis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Richland will challenge Delta at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Advance has already played their next game (against the Bears), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
