Basketball Recap: Casey O'hare's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Mary's over Mcdonogh

St. Mary was the 59-45 winner over McDonogh when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Mary's Saints fell just short of the McDonogh Eagles by a score of 53-51 on Friday. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

St. Mary's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Casey O'Hare, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 17 points. The dominant performance gave O'Hare a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Harris, who went 6 of 15 en route to 13 points.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for McDonogh, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

St. Mary's has already played their next contest (against St. Timothy's), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. McDonogh will take on St. Frances Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Frances Academy is coming into the match with six straight victories at home, so McDonogh will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
