Baseball Recap: Gateway Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gateway can now relate to. They fell just short of the Auburndale Bloodhounds by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Maicol Santiago put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Gateway now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Auburndale, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-17 record this season.

As of now, neither Gateway nor Auburndale have any future games scheduled.
