Basketball Recap: Carter Coffman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Garrett over Fairfield

Garrett lost against Fairfield back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Garrett Railroaders took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairfield Falcons. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Railroaders came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Falcons are ranked 271st).

Garrett's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Coffman, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Gabe Armstrong, who earned nine points and three steals.

Garrett has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-5 record this season. As for Fairfield, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Looking ahead, Garrett will square off against Eastside at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. As for Fairfield, they will take on Bethany Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethany Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
