Softball Recap: Santa Fe Drops Season-High Score on Montebello

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Fe). They never let the Montebello Oilers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with the Oilers: they've now won five in a row.

Saryah Razo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jaylyn Villagrana was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that she scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Coppin, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Santa Fe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Santa Fe's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Montebello, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Fe will host California at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Montebello, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Gabrielino at 3:45 p.m.
