Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions vs. Tolleson Wolverines

The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions will venture away from home to take on the Tolleson Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, Mountain Ridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-54 to Deer Valley. While losing is never fun, the Mountain Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Skyhawks are ranked 13th).

Dylan Donovan put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Cockrell, who posted eight points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, 2025 welcomed Tolleson with a 67-46 loss courtesy of ALA - Ironwood on Saturday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mountain Ridge dropped their record down to 8-8 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Tolleson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Mountain Ridge strolled past Tolleson when the teams last played back in December of 2021 by a score of 86-72. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain Ridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
