Basketball Game Preview: Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators vs. Rocky Bayou Christian Knights

After both having extra time off, the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators and the Rocky Bayou Christian Knights will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gulf Pointe Latin took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Tuesday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 41-0 victory over Covenant Christian. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Gladiators had established a 34-point advantage.

Gulf Pointe Latin found their leader in freshman Avie Bilotta, who posted eight points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Bilotta, who scored six points and three steals.

Gulf Pointe Latin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 18 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Rocky Bayou Christian hadn't beaten Baker on the road since December 15, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them last Thursday. The Knights walked away with a 52-40 win over the Gators.

Rocky Bayou Christian's win came from a few key players Gulf Pointe Latin will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sarai Alma Novoa Romero, who put up 18 points along with seven steals and six boards. Another player making a difference was Audrey Gardner, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The victory got Rocky Bayou Christian back to even at 1-1. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
