Baseball Recap: Danville Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Danville proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 15) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Lewisburg Green Dragons. The victory continues a trend for the Ironmen in their matchups with the Green Dragons: they've now won four in a row.

Garrett Hoffman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hoffman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Matthew Acor was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Raup, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Danville pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Lewisburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10-1 record this season.

Danville will venture away from home to face off against Southern Columbia Area at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Ironmen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lewisburg, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Muncy at 4:30 p.m.
