Basketball Recap: Alec Arguijo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Poteet over Cotulla

After flying high against Pettus on Friday, Poteet came back down to earth. The Poteet Aggies fell to the Cotulla Cowboys 59-55. The Aggies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cowboys apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Poteet's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alec Arguijo, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Arguijo is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Broox Avelar was another key player, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Poteet has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Cotulla, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Poteet wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-41 victory against Kenedy on the 7th. As for Cotulla, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-54 win against Falls City on the 7th.
