Softball Game Preview: Western Reserve Roughriders vs. Sandusky Blue Streaks

Western Reserve hasn't had much luck against Sandusky recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Roughriders will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Blue Streaks at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Western Reserve's offense. They came up short against Wellington on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The Roughriders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Sandusky fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Port Clinton on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Streaks in their meetings with the Redskins: they've now lost four in a row.

Kaylee Summers spent all 9.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Amari Prentice was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two triples and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Akiyla Jones, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Western Reserve now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Sandusky, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Western Reserve suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Sandusky in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Roughriders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
