Basketball Recap: Leadership Comes Up Short

Leadership and Oakland squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Leadership had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 77-33 loss at the hands of the Oakland Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Leadership can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while Oakland is ranked 68th).

Romyn Waugh was a one-man wrecking crew for Oakland as he almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. That's the most points Waugh has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jabari Gilbert Jr, who had 14 points.

Leadership's loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Oakland, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-7.

Leadership does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oakland, they will take on Oakland Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Oakland Tech's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
