Baseball Recap: Wheeler Find Success

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wheeler had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the Potts Camp Cardinals 5-3. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Caleb Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Cobb, who went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases and one run. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Lucas Hall also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Wheeler's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Potts Camp, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wheeler beat the Cardinals by a score of 7-0 on Saturday.
