Babcock waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the North Port Bobcats by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in August.
Babcock walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 15-25, 25-21, 25-14.
Olivia Carr paced Babcock's offense, picking up ten kills. Carr really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 16. Marley Ankrom-Smith and Jaylene Collazo kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.
North Port's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Davis, who had 24 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Natalie Shelton, who had 14 digs and four aces.
Babcock's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for North Port, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Babcock wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Charlotte on the 1st. As for North Port, after both having extra time off, they and Gulf Coast HEAT will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
