Basketball Recap: Carrizozo Takes a Loss

Carrizozo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Corona/Vaughn Cardinals and fell 55-11. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.

Corona/Vaughn was led to victory by Harper Dunn and Kassidy Lightfoot. Dunn dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards, while Lightfoot dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Dunn's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kourtney Brandenberger, who posted six points.

Carrizozo's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Corona/Vaughn, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carrizozo won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Grady at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Corona/Vaughn, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Santa Fe Indian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Corona/Vaughn's defense has only allowed 25.6 points per game this season, so Santa Fe Indian's offense will have their work cut out for them.
