Preview: Bessemer Academy Rebels vs. Fort Dale Academy Eagles
Having just played yesterday, the Bessemer Academy Rebels will get right back to it and host the Fort Dale Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bessemer Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They blew past Clarke Prep, posting a 63-26 victory at home. Given Bessemer Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Clarke Prep is ranked 447th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Even though Fort Dale Academy has not done well against Morgan Academy recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Tuesday. Fort Dale Academy breezed by Morgan Academy on the road to the tune of 69-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Fort Dale Academy has posted yet this season.
Bessemer Academy pushed their record up to 16-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Fort Dale Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
