Basketball Recap: Premont Comes Up Short

Premont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 61-40 to the Hebbronville Longhorns. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cowboys this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-32 back in November.

Oscar Carrillo went supernova for Hebbronville, putting up 24 points. Another player making a difference was Alexavier Gutierrez, who posted eight points.

Premont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Hebbronville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Premont will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Freer at 5:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Hebbronville and Orange Grove will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
