Basketball Game Preview: Metea Valley Mustangs vs. Waubonsie Valley Warriors

Metea Valley is 1-9 against Waubonsie Valley since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Metea Valley Mustangs will challenge the Waubonsie Valley Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Metea Valley beat Glenbard North 61-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Waubonsie Valley put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 59-48 win over Stevenson. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Patriots are ranked 79th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Metea Valley's record now sits at 11-8. As for Waubonsie Valley, their record now sits at 21-0.

Metea Valley took a serious blow against Waubonsie Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 73-45. Can Metea Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
