Basketball Recap: Oconee County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Oconee County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madison County Red Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 55-28 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Oconee County lost, don't look at Josh Matthews. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-11 on his way to 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, Matthews now owns an excellent 40.6% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Grayson Hockaday, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Oconee County's loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Oconee County will take on T.L. Hanna in a tournament on Saturday. As for Madison County, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Elbert County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
