Softball Game Preview: Wake Prep Academy Guardians vs. Franklin Academy Patriots

For the second straight game, Wake Prep Academy will face off against Franklin Academy. The Guardians will be playing at home against the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wake Prep Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Wake Prep Academy turned things around against Franklin Academy on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 17-2 victory.

Charlize Kell made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Emmy Kirby and Kyndall Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Kirby went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Miller went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Kirby a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Chambers, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Wake Prep Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 26 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

This is the second loss in a row for Franklin Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-13. As for Wake Prep Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Franklin Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wake Prep Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Franklin Academy, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits.
