It's playoff time, and Morro Bay had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Hoover Patriots with a sharp 7-0 victory on Saturday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

Eli Brown tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Quentin Crotts, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Joseph Skaggs, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Morro Bay hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover struck out seven times.

Morro Bay is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hoover, with the defeat, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-9.

Coming up, Morro Bay will square off against Fowler at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Redcats will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight. Hoover does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
