Football Game Preview: Avon Pirates vs. Scotland/Menno Trappers

The Avon Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Scotland/Menno Trappers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Avon sitting on six straight wins and Scotland/Menno on three.

On Friday, Avon blew past Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian, posting a 60-6 victory. Fans of the Pirates have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Meanwhile, while Scotland/Menno put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Colome. The Trappers breezed past the Cowboys to the tune of 56-0. That looming 56-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trappers yet this season.

Avon's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Scotland/Menno, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Everything came up roses for Avon against Scotland/Menno in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
