Volleyball Recap: Winslow Bulldogs vs. Tuba City Warriors

Winslow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Tuba City Warriors. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Winslow started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-18.

Tayela Larsen paced Winslow's offense, picking up ten kills. Larsen got some help from Keira Barton and her 24 assists. Tamia Haskie and Lisa Tsosie kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Tuba City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chloe Begay out in front who had 14 kills, ten digs, three aces, and a block. Begay has been hot , having posted six or more kills the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was AuRaiya Granger, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Winslow's defeat dropped their record down to 18-15. As for Tuba City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-13.

Winslow does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tuba City, they are on the road again on Friday to play Chinle at 6:00 p.m. Chinle will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Tuba City surely won't give up without a fight.
