Basketball Recap: Dunellen Drops Season-High Score on Timothy Christian

If Dunellen was riding high fresh off their 45-19 takedown of South River last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dunellen Destroyers fell to Timothy Christian 54-50. One positive for the Destroyers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Defeat or not, Dunellen got some senior leadership from Sophie Jimenez and Jahzara McLaughlin. Jimenez dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds, while McLaughlin dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 boards. With that strong performance, Jimenez is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Even though they lost, Dunellen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Dunellen's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Timothy Christian, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Dunellen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-34 defeat against Metuchen on the 20th. Timothy Christian has also already played their next contest (against Sayreville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
