Softball Recap: Willows Wins Going Away Against Paradise

Willows won the last time they faced Paradise and things went their way on Thursday too. Willows blew past Paradise 9-3. With that win, the Honkers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Kimberly Garrison was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrianna Hurlburt, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gianna Colonico, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Willows was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Willows is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. Paradise is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Willows will challenge rival East Nicolaus at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Paradise is set to face off against their familiar foe Durham at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
