Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for White Oak

White Oak had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Palmer on Saturday. The White Oak Roughnecks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Palmer Bulldogs a 6-0 shutout. While the Roughnecks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jaxsen Ludlow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Ludlow was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Ludlow is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyson McKinney, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Jordy Robertson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Palmer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. White Oak will challenge Beckville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. White Oak's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Beckville's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Palmer, they will take on Maypearl at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
