Basketball Recap: Alfred Wilkins Key Part of a Team Effort in Nighthawks Win

On Monday, the Natomas Nighthawks earned an 82-75 win over the Fremont Tigers.

Natomas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alfred Wilkins led the charge by going 7 of 12 en route to 20 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Manno Jenkins, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 16 points along with seven assists and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Fremont lost, don't look at Deyonte Spears. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Spears a new career-high in points. Roy Bishop Jr was another key player, going 6 of 14 en route to 12 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Natomas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Natomas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-57 victory against Casa Roble on the 21st. As for Fremont, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Castlemont on the 24th.
