Softball Recap: Franklinton Wins Going Away Against Nash Central

Franklinton's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Nash Central Bulldogs. Considering the Red Rams have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison Lada made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madison Peebles was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alydia Mitchell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Franklinton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nash Central only posted an OBP of .231.

Franklinton pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Nash Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklinton will welcome Bunn at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bunn will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Franklinton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nash Central, they will be playing at home against Rocky Mount at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nash Central has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
