Baseball Recap: Fleming County Starts off Right with Win over Augusta

Fleming County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Augusta with a sharp 10-4 win on Monday. Fleming County hasn't had any issues with Augusta recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jett Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Martin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Austin Robertson and Parker Sills did most of the damage at the plate: Robertson scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Sills scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Sills a new career-high in RBI (two). Lester Doyle was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Augusta's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Fleming County Panthers face off against Morgan County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Augusta, they will take on Mason County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
