Soccer Game Preview: Chugiak vs. Bartlett

The Chugiak Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Bartlett Golden Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Chugiak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: West Anchorage, who was ranked 11th at the time (Chugiak was ranked fifth). The Mustangs fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The match was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Chugiak couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Alyssa Calcaterra, who's now up to six this season.

Meanwhile, Bartlett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Service.

Bartlett's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10-1. As for Chugiak, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3-1.

Chugiak took their victory against Bartlett in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 6-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
