Basketball Recap: Aubrey Rogers Now 17-3 over Last 20 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Aubrey Rogers rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Suncoast Chargers by a score of 66-53. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Chargers are ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aubrey Rogers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angelina Insana, who posted 22 points and seven rebounds. Insana has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 46 times she's played. Madelyn Hamisch was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards.

Aubrey Rogers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 25 consecutive matchups.

Aubrey Rogers is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 20 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points over those games. As for Suncoast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-10.

Looking ahead, Aubrey Rogers will face off against American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. American Heritage will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Aubrey Rogers surely won't give up without a fight. Suncoast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
