Basketball Recap: Elijah Sehlhorst Key Part of Team Effort in Trojans Win

There's no place like home for East Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They took down the Batesville Bulldogs 61-43 on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in December of 2024, they had to take a 60-56 defeat.

East Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Sehlhorst led the charge by going 5-for-6 on his way to 15 points. Sehlhorst is becoming a predictor of East Central's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 2-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Peyton Hofer, who posted 13 points and six rebounds.

East Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Batesville only racked up seven assists.

When it comes to explaining why Batesville lost, don't look at Cade Kaiser. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-13 en route to 20 points. Trenten Luers was another key player, putting up 12 points.

East Central's record is now 7-11. As for Batesville, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Central will face off against Ryle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Batesville, they will venture away from home to take on South Decatur at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
