Recap: Bracken County Polar Bears vs. Beechwood Tigers
The Bracken County Polar Bears fell victim to the Beechwood Tigers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Tigers on the road and fell 41-0. While losing is never fun, Bracken County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Beechwood is ranked 20th).
Clay Hayden was his usual excellent self, throwing for 260 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes. Chase Flaherty also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Bracken County and nudges their season record down to 6-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.0 points per game. As for Beechwood, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Bracken County is on the road again on Friday and play against Lewis County at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Lewis County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Beechwood will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Danville at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
