Preview: Jenkins Warriors vs. Coffee Trojans
Jenkins is 0-1 against Coffee since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Jenkins Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Coffee Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Jenkins will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Coffee is ranked 21st).
Jenkins had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Greenbrier with a sharp 24-0 win on Friday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Jenkins just coasted through the last quarter.
Jenkins can attribute much of their success to Jayaun Albert, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Albert was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Jeremiah James was another key contributor, gaining 104 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Coffee put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 51-0 victory over Statesboro on the road. The result was nothing new for Coffee, who have now won five matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Fred Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 166 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Anthony Paulk was in the mix as well, providing Coffee with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Jenkins to 2-5 and Coffee to 7-0.
Jenkins took a serious blow against Coffee in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 42-7. Can Jenkins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
