Football Recap: Holly Wildcats vs. Akron Rams
After flying high against Custer County last Friday, Holly came back down to earth. The Holly Wildcats were dealt a 55-7 defeat at the hands of the Akron Rams on Friday. The Wildcats lost against the Rams in their previous head to head back in September of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 41-22 score last time.
Akron's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kolten Randel, who rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 124 yards and a touchdown on only eight passes. Randel really tore up the turf during one magnificent 94-yard run. Anderson Filla was another key back, rushing for 128 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Holly now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Akron, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Holly will be playing in front of their home fans against Sangre de Cristo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Akron, they will venture away from home to challenge Dayspring Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
