Basketball Game Preview: Windham Whippets vs. Woodstock Academy Centaurs

Windham and Woodstock Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Windham Whippets just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Woodstock Academy Centaurs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Windham is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.7 points per game this season.

Windham took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Parish Hill 95-37. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Whippets as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Windham relied on the efforts of Anden Gonzalez, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals, and Alexander Pomo, who went 10 of 14 en route to 21 points and seven boards. Gonzalez is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Francisco Alvarado, who posted six points and five steals.

Windham smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Woodstock Academy came up short against East Lyme on Friday and fell 55-42. The Centaurs have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Woodstock Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Windham, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

Windham beat Woodstock Academy 60-49 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Windham since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
