Lakewood posted their closest victory since January 27th on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-59 win over the Lejeune Devilpups. That's more bragging rights for the Leopards, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the defeat, Lejeune saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maurice Thomas dropped a double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 49.2% of the Devilpups' points, marking the third time in a row Thomas has posted more than a third of the team's points. Gabriel Camacho was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

The victory got Lakewood back to even at 1-1. As for Lejeune, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Lakewood is headed away from home for the first time to take on Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lejeune, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Dixon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
