South Eugene faced Thurston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Axe took a 24-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colts.

South Eugene's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Thurston, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 11-0.

Coincidentally, South Eugene and Thurston will both be playing Creswell the next time they take the field. The Axe will head out to face the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Colts will play them later in the day, at 8:00 p.m.
