Basketball Preview: West Hills Wolf Pack vs. Central Spartans
The West Hills Wolf Pack and the Central Spartans will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. West Hills is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
West Hills came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Sweetwater by a score of 65-62 on Saturday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Malekai Dillon, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Shaw, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.
Meanwhile, Central was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 46-45 to Santana. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
West Hills will have to contain Daimaggio Wyatt as he made an impact in Central's last game. He dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards. That was a full 42.2% of Central's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was David Lopez, who had 11 points in addition to six boards and four steals.
Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
