Softball Recap: Turkeyfoot Valley Area Victorious

Turkeyfoot Valley Area's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees by a score of 10-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rams considering their one-run performance the game before.

Rhylan Rugg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Rugg was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Turkeyfoot Valley Area let Jayna Nieves and Kiley Mitchell run wild. Nieves scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Mitchell scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Mitchell has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kya King, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Turkeyfoot Valley Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clay-Battelle only posted an OBP of .344.

The win got Turkeyfoot Valley Area back to even at 1-1. As for Clay-Battelle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Turkeyfoot Valley Area didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-5 defeat against Ferndale on the 2nd. Clay-Battelle has also already played their next matchup (against Trinity Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
