Baseball Recap: Jones Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

While Jones put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Weatherford. The Longhorns put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The victory (which was Jones' fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Weatherford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.

Coming up, Jones will venture away from home to challenge Chisholm at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Weatherford, they will host Fort Cobb-Broxton at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
