Basketball Recap: Bryson Hobbs' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rosewood over North Duplin

Rosewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Duplin Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, with their most recent loss being a 74-53 defeat last Monday.

Rosewood lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Bryson Hobbs, who went 7-for-10 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 46.7% field goal percentage. Tielen Mccrae was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Rosewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Duplin only pulled down seven offensive boards.

Donavan Armwood was his usual excellent self, going 7-for-15 on his way to 16 points for North Duplin. Armwood is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Kelly, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 10 points and seven rebounds.

Rosewood's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for North Duplin, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.

Rosewood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-47 defeat against Lakewood on the 13th. As for North Duplin, they have also already played their next contest, a 71-60 win against Hobbton on the 13th.
