Baseball Recap: Hamilton Takes a Loss

Hamilton extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 16-9 in the process. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maxwell Panthers. That's two games in a row now that the Braves have lost by exactly four runs.

As for Maxwell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.

For Maxwell's part, Massey Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Maxwell's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brody Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Jones has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Colt Montgomery, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Maxwell has already played their next game, a 6-0 win against Willows on the 7th. Hopefully Hamilton paid attention to the Panthers' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
