Basketball Recap: Makayla Thomas Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Jeff Davis

Bacon County got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They strolled past the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 39-20. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 40-37 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Bacon County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Makayla Thomas out in front who posted six points along with 17 boards and eight blocks. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jateria Smith, who earned 11 points.

Bacon County moved to 8-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Jeff Davis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.

Bacon County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-25 win against Berrien on the 11th. As for Jeff Davis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-11 loss against Brantley County on the 11th.
