Medina Christian Academy extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 4-3 in the process. Everything went their way against the Lawrence Upper Lions as they made off with an 18-1 win. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

D.J. Reidl and Noah Landers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Reidl struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Landers pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave Reidl a new career-high. At bat, Reidl went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Landers went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derek Kruszewski, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Medina Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Caden Dyer was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Medina Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
As for Lawrence Upper, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.
Like Medina Christian Academy, Lawrence Upper also got a great game from a two-way player: Will Crooks. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Crooks has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
