Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Central Lions vs. Loretto Mustangs

Columbia Central has won three straight games at home, while Loretto has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Lions will host the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Columbia Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Spring Hill. They walked away with an 11-7 win over the Raiders.

The team relied heavily on Jack Beck, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Columbia Central is 4-2 when Beck posts one or more home runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Conley, who went 3-for-6 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Columbia Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They got five more hits than Spring Hill's also-impressive total of 11.

Meanwhile, Loretto had just enough and edged out Terre Haute North Vigo 9-7 on Thursday.

Loretto's victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Columbia Central, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Columbia Central came up short against Loretto in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 8-5. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
