Softball Recap: Speedway Comes Up Short

Speedway was the 9-5 winner over North Putnam when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sparkplugs came up short against the Cougars on Monday, falling 11-5.

Mallory Short made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Aria Graves was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Speedway now has a losing record of 1-2. As for North Putnam, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Speedway will venture away from home to challenge Herron at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Putnam, they will take on Brown County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
