Softball Game Preview: Middletown Middies vs. Northwest Knights

The Middletown Middies will face off against the Northwest Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 18 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Middletown and 19 for Northwest dating back to last season.

Middletown made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Colerain, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Middies fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 9-7 on Friday. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Middies' highest-scoring match to date.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Northwest's offense. They came up short against Talawanda on Tuesday, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Middletown's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Everything went Middletown's way against Northwest in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Middletown made off with a 20-2 win. Will the Middies repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
