Recap: Rutherford Rams vs. Leon Lions
The Rutherford Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 38 points or more this season. They blew past Leon 73-7 at home. That 73-7 margin sets a new team best for Rutherford this season.
Rutherford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shakirah Edwards, who scored eight points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Butler, who scored 15 points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Leon struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rutherford racked up 23 assists.
Rutherford's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40 points. As for Leon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Rutherford's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Graceville at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Leon and Rickards will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rickards is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
