Basketball Recap: New Town vs. Chesapeake Bay Hawks
New Town scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 80-35 win over Chesapeake. Given New Town's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Bay Hawks are ranked 155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nialah Mingo was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points. She has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Adasyn Gillen-bagley, who scored eight points.
New Town is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Chesapeake, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
New Town will head out on the road to challenge the Gators at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Perry Hall is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Chesapeake, they will take on the Lions at TBD on Monday.
