Softball Recap: Centennial Picks Up Tenth Straight Win at Home

While Centennial's win against Joshua wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Owls 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Owls: they've now won seven in a row.

Madison Haynes was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Bruner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Centennial hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in six consecutive matches.

Centennial pushed their record up to 21-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Joshua, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will head out to take on Burleson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Elks have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests. As for Joshua, they are taking a road trip to challenge Everman at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
